In 2016, I first began to elaborate electronics in a more in-depth way. Years already I was fascinated by electronics, but never really had that moment where I cleary understood what I was doing. Many fails I've gone through and probably many more to come.

I must say, I'm a total self-taught... always used to be. But since that year I started over, I began to understand. I can't explain how it came to be, but it's probably the effect of not trying to force stuff but let it come to you.

As you might reckon, I'm still no engineer, but I'm getting to a point where I can think of some small circuits and can work them out or sometimes even understand what I see in other circuits. But it's still a long way to go.

This category is dedicated to the people that want to start their way in electronics, mind you, speaking especially about music circuits. Because I had so many frustrating moments until I found my way.

As probably many other people will do, I started with some basic 555 timer circuits. It's nice and fun, but it all really started as I stumbled over the Operational Amplifier (Op Amp).

If you are interessed in electronics for music, there is no better way than starting your own Eurorack synth.

And meanwhile, study those Operational Amplifier configurations:

  • Inverting Amplifier
  • Non-Inverting Amplifier
  • Comparator (Schmitt Trigger)
  • Integrator
  • Voltage Follower (Buffer)
  • Active Rectifier
